Quantum Simulation Researcher

Company Description

BEIT is a quantum computing algorithms startup founded by a team of ex-Google engineers and directors. We are a venture-backed, grant funded company with research offices in downtown Toronto (Queen's Park), and Kraków, Poland. Our core focus is bridging the gap between hardware and software, particularly in the realm of quantum simulation algorithms for the fault-tolerant QC paradigm. We are dedicated to developing efficient and scalable solutions for electronic structure problems and more general problems in simulation quantum many body dynamics on quantum computers. To achieve this, we are actively seeking experts in quantum simulation who possess a deep understanding of electronic structure methods, quantum dynamics, and quantum algorithm development, aiming to seamlessly integrate hardware capabilities with software innovations for a more efficient and accurate quantum simulation future.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Toronto, ON for a Quantum Simulation Researcher. The Quantum Simulation Researcher will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining advanced quantum simulation tools and methods, designing experiments, analyzing data from these experiments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams of mathematicians, physicists, and computer scientists. Your expertise in quantum simulation, particularly in areas such as electronic structure problems for ground and excited states, quantum dynamics, and scalable algorithm development, will be instrumental. Experience in quantum simulation algorithms and their applications in material and chemical discovery, with a focus on efficiency and scalability of quantum simulations, will be highly valuable. This role demands a deep understanding of the intricacies of quantum systems and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical, real-world problems.

Qualifications

  • MS/Ph.D. in the field of Quantum Computing, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantum simulation, specifically in electronic structure problems, quantum dynamics, and scalable algorithm development.
  • Experience in software development and coding in Python.
  • Experience with quantum hardware and quantum circuit simulations, including knowledge of quantum simulators and quantum noise models.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and collaborative teams.
  • Prior research work in Quantum Simulation, particularly in the context of material and chemical discovery, and Publications in peer-reviewed journals is a plus.
  • Experience with patent applications is a plus.
